Our Area

Bill_B_3345[1]Pemaquid Lighthouse. The Damariscotta Mills fish ladder. Fort William Henry at Colonial Pemaquid. The ancient oyster shell middens along the Damariscotta River. The area historic and natural attractions that make our home so unique are endless! The beach at Pemaquid, the Rachel Carson salt pond preserve, watching the Hardy Boat arrive from Monhegan at Shaw’s Wharf; plus our area trails, forests, ponds, and streams—all waiting to be explored and enjoyed.

The areas surrounding Damariscotta and Newcastle, and south to Bristol and South Bristol are rich with history, natural wonders, and a wide variety of cultural opportunities. The scenic beauty is breathtaking, the local inhabitants are welcoming, and it’s a wonderful place to call ‘home.’

We are fortunate to have Debby_S_3802[1]a number of important volunteer organizations dedicated to protecting our beautiful scenery and local habitats, such as the Damariscotta River Association, the Midcoast Conservancy, and the Pemaquid Watershed Association, among several others.

Our local LincolnHealth medical campus is highly rated and extremely well-regarded, as are the area schools featuring a truly world-class educational experience at Lincoln Academy for our local student population and those from abroad.
